TAURANGA.
The Thames correspondent of the N. Z. Herald writes as follows, —
" I hear from Auckland that a discovery of gold has been made at Tauranga of considerable importance, and that the object of Colonel Harrison's coming up by the s.s. St. Kilda was to have the place proclaimed a gold-field. If this is the case, it will be of great importance to the country. The Upper Thames cannot remain closed if there is a gold-digging populatiou at Tauranga. There is great anxiety to learn here further news about this matter."
