Auckland Live Stock Market. Messrs Carey & Gilles Live Stock Report for the week ending Friday, 7th May : We have to report that the market has been largely supplied -with fat cattle, which were placed at about the rates ruling the preceding week, realising from 34/ to 36/ 100 ft. Fat sheep, both provincial and imported, were penned in plentiful numbers, and quitted without any alteration in value. Imported merinos were unsaleable. Fat cattle were brought forward in considerable numbers, and found buyers at satisfactory rates. Dairy cows met with ready purchasers at late quotations. Pigs were in demand and sold at full rates. At the Junction Yards on Wednesday wo obtained the following prices : Fat cattle (provincial beef) realised 34/ to 36/ 1001 b. We sold a shipment ex Itangatira from Wansanui at £8 12/6 to £ll 17/6 f- head, and ex Wanganui at £lO 15/ to £l3 15/ <sfl> head, being about 34/ to 36/ f 1001 b. Calves fetched £2 15/ each. Store cattle were sold at £4 12/6 to £5 2/6, for 18 months old steers, and £6 17/6 to £8 17/6 for Australian bullocks. Fat sheep—s6o were penned and disposed of as under, ex Wanganui from Wanganui, 13/9 to 16/3 each; merino wethers (provincial fatted) 9/9 to 13/; merino ewes and wethers (inferior quality), the former 8/ to 8/6. and the latter 7/6 to 7/9 each; merino wethers ex Star of the South (good quality) li/3 each. Store sheep ex Star of the South from Napier, a most inferior lot, met with no competition; a few were quitted with difficulty at 4/ each. Pigs sold at £ll2/6 to £3 7/6 each.
