CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor of the Haickc's Bay Times. Sib.-— ln the Herald of tbo 18th inst., a member of the Clive Cricket Club has seen fit to censure tne Napier Club for not going to play them on the day promised. I should wish, sir, to say, through your paper, that the secretary of the Napier Club told them from the first that he did not think he would be able to get an Eleven to play them but would endeavor to do so. I don’t think that they can in justice blame the Napier Club. X should wish to say. Sir, that the Clive Club comprises a sufficient number of gen tlemen who can afford to lose a day or two, but the Napier Club (the playing part) is composed almost entirely of Government officials, who cannot get away to participate in this truly British game. Had the Clive Club taken the trouble to have met the Vapler Club on their ground, I have not the least doubt but the Hatch would have taken place. I remain, sir, _ A Nonentity. The Spit, XBth February, 1865.
