January 26—Dart, brig, 151 tons, Carphin, for Lyttelton, with 111 hales wool (37,289 Ihs), 4 bundle sheepskins, 53 hales wool (18,715 lbs), 33 hales wool (10,872 lbs), and part of original cargo from Sydney. MISCELLANEOUS. The p.s. City of Dunedin, Captain Boyd, arrived in Wellington from the South on the 22nd inst. She left Otago on the afternoon of the 18th inst.; arrived at Timaru on the 19th, at 8 am. Here she shipped 390 bales of wool, and sailed again the same evening; arrived at Lyttelton on the following day, and transhipped her wool into the ship British Empire ; she left again on the 21st, at 11 a.m., and arrived here as above. The City of Dunedin left Wellington for Havelock and Picton on the 24th inst. The P.N.Z. and A.R.M. Company’s s.s. Prince Alfred, Captain Machln, arrived on Sunday afternoon from Nelson and Sydney. She left Sydney on the 15th inst., at 9 a.m., and passed the Heads at 10 in a heavy gale of wind from the southward, which had been raging with more or leas violence since the previous Thursday. The remainder of the voyage was marked by light and unsteady winds from the S.S.W., veering round to the E., with very fine weather. She arrived at Nelson on the evening of the 20th instant; left again on Sunday morning, arriving here as above. The Prince Alfred takes the place of the s.s. Otago this trip, and will leave for the South to-day.— JSew Zealand Advertiser, 24th Jan. The P.N.Z. and A.11.M. Company’s s.s. Lord Ashlev, Cap t. Randall, arrived in this harbor yesterday afternoon, at 3 p.m., from Canterbury and Otago, but without the English mail.— lbid. The ship Ramsav, with upwards of 200 passengers, had' arrived at Otago— Ibid. The ships Glenmark and Mermaid were entering Lyttelton, from London, as the City of Dunedin waa coming out. They were both full of passengers.— lbid. The wool ships Parisian and Blue Jacket left Lyttelton for London on i'riday last.— lbid. The s.s. Airedale, from Northern ports, arrived at Port Chalmers on the 17th inst.— lbid. The Thane of Fife left Newcastle, N.S.W., for Hawke’s Bay on the 12th instant.— lbid. The Quccnsciiife correspondent of the Sydney Empire, under date Jan. In, sends the following telegraphic despatch : —“John Bimyan, from London. She brings the six seamen reported as lost by the Loudon steamer, on ner passage out, whilst attempting to rescue a man who fell overboard. They were picked up by a whaler and transferred to the John Eunyan, after being thirty-four hours in the boat, all well.— lbid.
