Thursday, July 14.—[ Continued .] Rates of Pilotage. Mr. Ormond moved as an amendment — “That the motion of the member for Napier (Mr. Smith) now under consideration, be referred to a select committee, to consist of Messrs. Kennedy, Fitzgerald, Tiffen, Dolbel, Edwards, and Smith—report to be brought up on the 20th inst.” The amendment was agreed to. Letting of Wharf, c fo. Mr. Smith, with permission of the Council, referredjtho following, standing in his name, tothe same committee:— “That it is desirable the Government wharf, stockyard, and other Government erections, should be let annually.”

Provincial Council Amendment Bill. Mr. CoEENSO moved that the above-named bill be read a first time, which was seconded by Mr. Edwahds, and agreed to. Bill read a first time accordingly. Highways Bill. The Council then went into Committee on tho Highways Bill, and several emendations having been made, the chairman reported progress,' and obtained leave to sit again next day. The Council then adjourned.
