CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor [of the Sendee's Say Times. Sm, —A case of real distress has long existed in the town in the person of one Watson Wetherly. This unfortunate man, halfwitted, but harmless, stands forth as a great disgrace to the Government. What, in the name of Honesty becomes of the money known as charitable aid contingencies, &c., voted by the Council ? It would be well to look after this. The poor fellow I have pointed out lives in a hovel disgusting only to think of; he washes his clothes on his back, and dries them peripatetically in the air! Can nothing be done for, this unfortunate ? What makes the conduct of the Government more surprising in their horrible indifference is that Wetherly is a Scotchman. Yours, &c., A Scotch Thistle. Napier, August 10th, 1864.
