To the Editor of the Hawke's Bay Times.
Sir, —lii perusing the Herald of Saturday last, I saw an account current of the “ Hawke’s Bay Agricultural Society,”’ in which I noticed that your account for advertising was only .£1 Bs. Cd., whilst those of Mr. J. Wood’s were—first, £4 12s. 74., then £2 25., ar.d lastly £8 7s. 9d., making altogether £ls 2s. 4d. Now, if a matter of this kind is to be made a party affair, as,it would seem to he by the above figures, I, for one, shall cease to subscrile again. The saving of expense can he no excuse, for the work might have been equally divided, and I do not see why one paper more than the other should reap the benefits arising from public matters of this kind, where party politics are not supposed to hold sway.
