To the Editor of the Hawke's Bay Times.
Sib, —In reference to Mr. John Begg’s letter, which appeared in your issue of last Friday, I beg permission to say that that gentleman is quite mistaken if lie supposes * that 1 have any intention of seeking or accepting any Government employment. I have already given up one office as good as .any the Provincial Government have to give, and that alone ought to be a sufficient guarantee of my good faith. I am quite prepared to propose or to support any measures which will exclude all paid Government servants from taking a seat in the Provincial Council I do not, however, discover anything vague or open to question in the expression of my determination in this matter, conveyed in my * .address. I am, &c., 0, L. W. BotrsriELi).
