CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor of the Hawke's Kay Times.

Sik, —I notice that you have refused publication to a letter about the bad state of the Terries hereabouts, because the author neglected to furnish his name, —a plain proof that his case is a bad one, and therefore he will not subscribe to it. Tow, I really don’t know what cause of just complaint there is. Ferrymen cannot be expected to build jetties, nor are they usually supposed to pull two or three miles for the convenience of explorers or anybody. Truly at Waihua the “ nondescript” (immortalized by Mercury) might be improved, but at Wairoa we have a good, strong, safe boat, built for the purpose, and as travellers this way can testily, a most obliging ferryman. Tor at Waihua is there ever any lack of attendance. Mohaka I will not say much about, as the Ferry there appears to be in the hands of the natives, and a stranger might have some little trouble. I don’t know to what other crossing places your nameless correspondent alludes, but with reference to those above-mentioned he certainly differs with Your obedient servant
