On Thursday evening next, Mrs. Welch is going to give the good folks of Napier a musical treat. It is very gratifying to find that we are again to enjoy the musical abilities of our ' local celebrities. Mr. Worgan will, we understand, preside at the piano, which circumstance alone at once marks the entertainment as being likely to prove one of the first class.
The Native Feast. —The following communication from the Natives has been handed to us for publication : From Pawhakairo, July 16, 1863. To Donald McLean, Esq., and to all of our Pakeha friends, upon whom we now call to assemble with us here.
We desire to inform you that we shall be glad of your company at Pawhakairo on the 20th instant—the whole of you. During the intervening days we shall be occupied receiving the people of te Awaateatua, of te Whakapirau, of Tikokino, and of numerous other places. We wish you, our Pakeha friends, to remain (at NapierJ in the meantime, and on Monday to come. That day will be devoted to your reception, as, on Saturday, we shall have done with the Maories. We beg that you (McLean) will lost no time in making this known to the Pakehas.
In the event, however, of the'Maori people not all having arrived by that time, it maybe necessary for you (the Pakehas) to remain a while longer (at Napier) before you come ; hut in any case we shall send a messenger whether it be Monday or Tuesday.
