WAIPAWA REGENT

NEW YEAR'S EVE ATTRACTION. Lilting music and intriguing lyrics, contributed by those ace composers, Harry Akst and Sidney Clare, help to enhance and distinguish the latest hit picture which "Ginger" Jane Withers has made for Twentieth Century-Fox, "Can This be Dixie?" showing at the Waipawa Regent on New Year's Eve. Four swingy, pulse-quickening, highly entertaining numbers, each of which is sung by "Ginger" Jane herself, carry the descriptive titles of "Pick, Pick, Pickaninny," "Uncle Tom's Cabin is a Cabaret Now," "Does You Wanna Go To Heaven?" and "It's Julep Time in Dixieland." A notable' supporting cast includes Slim Summerville, Helen Wood, Thomas Beck, Sara Haden, Claude Gillingwater and Donald Cook, The picture was directed by George Marshall with Sol M. Wurtzel executive producer.
