Mr. Richard George Deighton

WAIROA, Last Night. There passed away at the Wairoa Hospital on Tuesday Mr. Richard George Deighton, who for many years had been in business in Wairoa. _ He was the elder son of Mr. Richard G. Deighton, and was born at thc Waikaremoana redoubt at a time when his fatlier was a membor of the armed j constabulary. Mr. Deighton was educated at the Frasertown and Wairoa schools. He took an active part in many branches of sport. He joined the Wairoa Band when a lad, and subseI quent to his retirement a few years ago he became bandmaster and conductor. He was also elected a life member. The late Mr. Deighton saw active j service in the Great War in France. He I was invalided home, and it is thought that his war experiences had a great deal in hastening his death. Mr. Deighton was unmarried, and ieaves a brother, Mr. Deighton, and a j gtep-mother, Mrs. L. Deighton. ! The funeral took place to-day at the Wairoa cemetery. I
