Uttley (54) and Robertson (14)' started off again confidently. Uttley's fighting knock came to a close in Burtt's fifth over. Otago's total wa* 127 for two, the partnership havingj added 90. There was some lively batting wheaj Cheltleburgh joined Robertson, the paif adding 80 in about 50 minutes, bring ing the Otago total to 207. ChettleburgS was particularly enterprising. Four wickets were down for 214 when Robertson's stolid innihgs ended. He batted about three hours. After Mulcock broke the partnership, h* went through the Otago batsmen, and secured the hat trick, taking tht wickets of Elmes, Howden and Mills.
