CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. With both sides hopeful of ontrighf , wins, considerable interest was mani^ fested in the resumption of play in th# Plunket Shield match betvfreen Otage? and Canterbury this morning. With one down for 105 in their see* ond innings, Otago, it was believed, • . were hopeful of adding another 140, runs before putting Canterbnry in on a worn wifcket, with just over 200 runa to get in. about thTee hours. Uttley (54) and Robertson (14)' started off again confidently. Uttley's fighting knock came to a close in Burtt's fifth over. Otago's total wa* 127 for two, the partnership havingj added 90. There was some lively batting wheaj Cheltleburgh joined Robertson, the paif adding 80 in about 50 minutes, bring ing the Otago total to 207. ChettleburgS was particularly enterprising. Four wickets were down for 214 when Robertson's stolid innihgs ended. He batted about three hours. After Mulcock broke the partnership, h* went through the Otago batsmen, and secured the hat trick, taking tht wickets of Elmes, Howden and Mills.
