BLUES IN FAVOUR FOR FROCKS AT WAIPUKURAU RACES YESTERDAY
In glorious weather, - tempered by a cool breeze during the afternoon, & large crowd of holiday-makers spent a most enjoyable day at the "Waipukurau Jockey Club's rac'e meeting yesterday. Many luncheon and afternoon tea parties were held under the shade of the trees. The frocking was varied, blues in varying shades being the predominaUng colour, long coats Of georgette and silk being very popular. bome of those present were: — The president, Mr P. F. Wall, and Mrs Wall, the latter wearing a model gown in burgundy chiffon, flgured in white under a long coat of navy stiffened lace and a shady navy hac banded with white ribbed ribbon. Mrs H. M. Christie, navy georgette frock worn with a navy flgured silk ccat aud a navy Breton hat, havingj a red posy on the crown. Mrs C. Eaymond, saxe blue and white flcral silk, with white frills at th« nf.ckline and a matching hat. Mrs J. O'Eeilly, navy and white coin spotted ninon ensemble, with white net frills at the neckline, and a white and navy plaid silk straw hat. Mrs Perey Hunter smart lido blue suit with a clust.er of pink carnations m the lapel, and a shady matching hat. Mrs H.. Peaeock, light navy flowered silk frock, worn with a tilted navy straw hat having a narrow white ban.l.Mrs R. M'cLean, frock in navy and white floral georgette worn wi*h a, long navy coat and navy straw ha;, trimmed with red (and white flowers. Mrs R. Sainsbury, black crepo le chene sprigged in coloured flowers, with elbow-length sleeves of embossed net and a smart black hat. Mrs H. Hardy, black ninon patterned in field flowers, black sailor hat, encircled with a white band. Mrs Bob Ricketts, pale orange linen frock, the turned-down collar stitehed with black and a pinky beige hat. Mrs J. W. Harding, was wearing navy georgette, the full sleeves patterned in white and a navy hat in coarse straw. Mrs C. Giblin, striped paisley patterned crepe de chene frock, and a coarse straw hat in rose pink.' Mrs W. B. Fisher, navy and white flgured crepe de chene and a navy taffeta hat. Mrs L. Mpnckton, dark blue crepe de chene suit, with a cluster of pink carnations on the lapel, and a navy straw hat. Mrs St. Hill-Warren, navy and white coin-spotted crepe de chene frock worn with a navy hat trimmed with a big white bow. Mrs M. Brodie, black and white sprigged ninon and a cream turban hat. Mrs Adam Bell, navy georgette frock, having white georgette lapel, worn with a three-quarter navy georgette coat and a shady matching hat. Mrs O. Nelson, black and white pinspotted crepe de chene, the short sleeves banded with black, black suede belt and black hat. Mrs Shorty Nation, deep cream silk linen frock and a cream panama hat. Mrs McKenzie (Havelock North), pale blue linen suit, worn with a pale pink chiffon blouse, and small white hat. Mrs F. von Dadelszen, black and • white pin-spotted crepe de chene frock, and a black hat of shiny straw 1 with a black band. Mrs H. Hobson, dark green crepe, pin-spotted in white, worn under a black georgette redingote and small black hat, with a spray of flowers at the back. Mrs S. Train, cream linen suit worn with a scarlet straw hat. Mrs J. E. Hall (Hastings), floral crepe de chene in tonings of blues and tangerine, and a black hat. Mrs C. R'. Mrs Hudson (Christchurch), brown and beigc floral chiffon frock, having a belt of fiame suede, worn with a brown breton sailor hat. Mrs W. Hobson, light navy silk worn with a green plaid taffeta blouse and small blue hat. Mrs T. Given-Brown, georgette redingole worn over a cream floral frock and a wide brimmed brwon straw hat. Mrs B. Boys, pale blue flowered chiffon, worn witli a dark blue* wide-brim-med hat. Mrs de Stacpoole, grey check suit and a matching hat. Ivl'rs E. B. Todd, white and blue sprigged crepe frock and long navy coat, worn with a small white hat Mrs M. Mrs Bill Harris, white tailored jach. et worn with a navy skirt and whito panama hat turned up in front. Mrs H. Carlyon, black georgette patterned with clusters of pink roses, and a big black bat. Mrs F. Hewitt, black and whitt suit, worn with a white lace blous% and black hat. Mrs J. Rood, saxe blue floral ninon frock and a blue and white hat. Mrs E. T. Haldane, pale blue linen suit, and a matching hat. Miss J. Speedy, navy georgette tunic frock with big cherry buttons, and a wide cherry suede belt, halo taffeta hat.
