The December meeting of the Bay View Women 's Institute was held in King George's Hall. Mrs Olsen presided over a very fair attendance of members and welcomed several visitors. The treasurer gave a very satisfac-. tory financial report. '■ It was deeided to hold the Institute pienic on the second Wednesday in January at the Eskdale Park, Yulev road. ' The usual donation towards the Suuday School Christmas tree was decided upon. The institute 's newest babies, Robin Horne and James Wilson, are to be presented with Post Office boxes. 4 A very much appreciated talk on chrysanthemum culture and the general cultivation of flowers, was given by Mr Robson and Mr Turton, of Greenmeadows. The result of the competitions were: Christmas gift, not costing more than 1/6, Mrs Milne and Miss Blair 1, Mrs Scott and Mrs McHardy 2, Miss Nicholls 3. Silver miniature cup, best bloom Miss R. Blair (hydrangea) 1, Mrs Wilson (stock), 2, Mrs E. Petersen 3 (stock). A dainty supiwr vras' served by the hostesses, Mesdames Rogers, Les Staniland, McKennie and L. Scott. A very pleasant evening concluded with tlie exchange of Chaistmas gifts and the singing of the National Aft. them.
