WOMEN INSTITUTE

Waipukurau Children's Party The December meeting of the Waipukurau Women 's Institute, presided over by Mrs Duckworth, took the form of a children's Christmas party. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames D. Davey, A. F. Cook, G. Bromell and F. J. Fraser. Several of the children contributed vocal solos, recitations and pianoforte solos, the winners being: Leslie Grant 1, Laurence Fraser 2; Allison Hunter 1, Joan Grifiiths 2. Jean Dilworth wou the musical parcel game. Mrs Wiggins waq in charge of the ice cream, and each child was given an ice cream at the close of the meeting. Mrs E. C. Shand won Mrs F. J. Fraser's Christmas cake competition. Results of other competitions are as below: — Box of mixed sweets: Mrs F. J, Fraser 1 and 3, Mrs W. Petergen 2; best Christmas noveities: Mrs Fraser 1, Mrs Perkms 2, Mrs W. Petersen 3; earnation bloom: Mrs W, Turner 1, Mrs F. J. Fraser 2, Mrs Lovett 3; jar of marmalade: Mrs F. J. Fraser 1, Mrs G. Bromell 2, Mrs ,\ Brown 3.
