BUDGE BEATS BROMWICH AT MELBOURNE

MELBOURNE, Dec. 12. In the singles final at the Yictorian tennis championships, Budge (U.S.A.) beat Bromwich^ 8 — 6, 6 — 3, 9 — 7. The women's final resulted: Miss Bundy (U.S.A.) beat Miss N. Wynne k(Victoria), 6 — 4, 1 — 6, 6 — 4. In the combined doubles final, Budge *nd Miss Bundy beat /lilchrist and Miss Westacott, 6 — 4, 6—4. A gallery of 10,000 saw Budge outplay Bromwich and reveal glimpses of the f orm that won the Davis Cup for America. Budge 's impressions of Bromwich were; "He is clever, making passing fehots as well as anyone I have ever played. His serviee and overhead shots aTe poor for a world-class player."
