Handioap Matches and L CJhampionship H.B. C^TRAL CLUB There yvyt a' disappointing attendfcnce of shootists at the meeting on priday of the Hawke's Bay Central Gun Club, although some excellent thooting was recorded. The main match of ths day, the £50 open clay handicap match, produced excellent shooting, and resulted in a tie between Messrs. T. paTker and L. Maher. Both marksmen »hot steadily throughout and used the iecond barrel once only each. The morning was still, and lightly overcast, but the sky cleared towards coon, with a fair freeze later in the day. Shooting was difficult throughout, Ihe light being too bright for ease of wision. The open handicap trophy match, teld in the afternoon, also provided •ome good shooting, the winner being Mr. E. Maher (16) who won on his 32nd bird, all birds .being shot on the fcrst barreL Mr. D. M. Campbell (17) held second place with another fine per-. formance of 31 birds on the first barrel. Third and fourth places were filled by Messrs. G-. Bretherton (16) find W. "Webster (11) who shot 29 and 28 birds respectively. The balance of the day's shooting consisted of sweepstakes matches of yarious hinds. Great credit is due to the president Mr. D. M. Campbell^ Messrs. H. M. Bishop and T. Y. Morrin and the sectetary Mr, K. H. Bayliss, the officials tesponsible for the meeting The individual scores for the £50 Open Clay Handicap were as follows: — B. Maher (16) 15 T. Parker (16) . . 15 W.
