Own Coi respondent,.)

Large Crowd Present for Opening

(From 'Our

PORANGAHAU, Last Night. The Porangahau Tennis Club opened its season on Saturday afternoon. A large number of piayers was present, and the weather, although overcast, made conditions excellent for tennis. The president, Mr H. Wall, in a short speech, congratulated the members on their work on the new court., which he cfbserved was au excellent one. He alluded to the meeting at which the decision was made to put down a hard court in place of the so-called grass court, and it was very gratifying to see the work completed. The entire work was done by the members themselves, and he felt sure that this season's members would not be forgotten for many years to come. Mr Wall declared the courts open by hitting a ball over the net.
