FRENCH AIR EFFICIENCY
Arms Votes Passed by Deputies 300 M.P.H. BOMBERS LONBON, Dec. 12. The Baily Telegraph's Paris correspondent says after a debate in which nearly all speakers urgea that the Government 's preparations were inadequate for the eountry 's needs, the Chamber of Beputies passed the Naval estimates of £30,000,000. The Chamber of Beputies, by 523 votes to I, passed the Air Estimate of £12,000,000, an increase of £5,500,000 compared with last year. This does not include the extra budget of £26,000,000^ which will be available as required. The deputies severely criticised the Air Force's organisation and material and demanded faster production. One deputy condemned the Government for allowing planes to go to Spain, adding that between July 1936 and August 1937 France sent 540, compared with Bussia's 437, Holland 110, United States 78, and Britain 40. The Air Minister, M. Pierre Cot, in replying to the allegation that foreign planes were faster than Erench, said that Erench bombers and pursuit planes had attained a speed of 300- miles an hour, which \?as faster than their British or German prototypes.
