SLUMP TALK DEPRECATED
Explanation of the Recent Trade Recession (Eeceived 8, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 7. There is no slump and no reason to anticipate a slump, declared the Rt. Hon. R. McKenna in a speech at Birmingliam. He pointed*out that the recent setback in certain sections of trade had been caused by an almost complete cessation of expenditure by big American industrial companies. When they eeased to buy raw materials, prices fell and this affected tbe ptock exchange resulting in a certain decline in tbe luxury trade, but returns from all over the country gave no indication tbat tbe decline was general.
