"HAPPY FEET"

Miss Doris Shapleski's Dance Revue ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME A most successful dance revue was presented in tlie Hastings Municipal Tkeatre last evenrng by Miss Doris Shapleski and her pupils. The theatre was well-Med for the performance, and ihe audience thoroughly enjoyed the long and varied programme of solo and baliet dance items. The recital commenced with a farotasy by the younger pupils, ' 'Itomance of the Deep," in which the young performers handled a light dance very well. A tap item, "Harbour Lights Tap," proved extremeiy popular', and even more so was the number "Kondino" by Miss Joyce Ericksen. During the evening a" number of dances were given by Mr. Claude Henderson, of Palmerston North, who is well known throughout New Zeaiand for his dancing. In particular his Russian dance took the fancy of the audience, who olamoured tor an encore which could not be granted owing to the length of the programme. A Mexican duo by Miss Brightie Gray and Mr. Fred Russell also proved popular. Other appearances were two by the Hastings Junior Boys' Mouth-Urgan Band, and the Hapi quartette. Accompanists for the evening were Miss Jehn "VVilkinson at the piano and Mr. Harry Cooper (violin). The stage manager was Mr. J. Le Comte.
