MEMBERS OF MUSICIANS SOCIETY MEET IN NAPIER
Members of the Napier Musicians Society field their final meeting of tfie 1937 season last nigfit in Blythe's tea rooms, Napier, where ibowls of lovely Jacob ean lilies and giant pink and blue lupins had been artistically arranged in the lounge, while crystal vases of Ic eland poppies were placed on the ledges round the walls. — ^ — ■■ — Percy Tombs, extended a warm welcome to Miss Rose Briasco and Mr J. D. Briasco, members of the society who have just retufned from a holiday overseas. Mr Tombs also apologised for the absence of the secretary, Mr I. L. Prime. Mrs L. J. Prime, vice-president, and Mr P. W. Tombs were the accompanists for the evening and the following were the items given. — Trio: (violin, viola and piano), "Iamento" (Radoux), Mrs L. J. Prime, Miss E. Aislabie and Mf P. W.- Tombs; song, "The Enchanted Forest" (Montague Phillips), "The Cuckoo," Miss Helen Dykesj violin solo, Adagio and Allegro Sonata No. II. (Corelli), Allegro, (Fiocco), Mr F. Hunt; song, "The Admirals" (Chadwick), "The Night Rider" (Bergh), Mr W. P. Mitchell; vocal soli: ' ' I Love You" (Beethoven), (Obligato: Miss Aislabie and Mr McCarthy), A Green Cornfield (Michael Head), Miss Mona Caldwellj piano solo, Waltz in E Minor (Ghopin), Mr E. G. Jamieson; Mr Jamieson's .encore number was a short composition of his own entitled "The Brook;" song, On Wings of Song (Mendelssohn), "Peace", Madame Mercer; trio (two violins and viola), Allegro and Presto Finale (Beethoven), Miss Aislabie and Messrs F. Hunt and P. W. Tombs. A savoury Bupper was served, .after which the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem. Among those present were: Mesdames P. Tombs, L. J. Prime, R. West, A. E.
