Hogget inutton. sold " at late * rates, bu't ew'e nutton suffered a sharp decline on last iveek's quotations and tke bulk of tke jff ering was passed in. Vendors canaot expect muck above £1 a head for good ewes according to yesterday's operations. Store skeep were firm and good business was done under the hammer. About 900 kead of fat skeep were yarded, the entry being made up of 500 ewes, 300 koggets and 100 wetkers, all in good condition. Hogget muttOn was fully firm at- late rates, but values for ewe mutton declined sharply to the extent of close lipon 4s a kead for tke prime lots. It appeared tkat buyers were not prepared to advance beyond £1 for ewe mutton and only in tkree instances did tko bidding exceed tkis figure and tken it was only a matter of pence. Wether mutton experienced a dull sale and tke business donq under tke hammer was at values equal to those operating last week. Tke sale of hogget mutton opened on a pen of nine weli-gjpwn skorn skeep offered on account of G. Lubbock, of Colyton, and tke selling eoncluded at 26s 9d.
