Mr E. A De La Haye, who'has been attached to the clerical staff at- the Waipukurau railway station for over si$ years, has left for Napier, where he hae been pxomoted to- tak© char'go of the .railway goods department. A" farewell function was arranged by about 25 fellow-employees before his departure.- A brass screen and a diningrooin clock were presented to Mr De La Haye by the stationmaster, on behalf of the gathering. A musicai programme was provided by Messrs J. Seabroolc and J. -Reid (songs) and. F. Watson, A. Fryer ' and J. Dilworth - (musicai items). Mr Ray Taylor, now of Hunterville" and formerly of Waipukurau, has been transferred on promotion to the accountancy braneh of Post and Telegraph Department 's head office. He leavets early next month, ' Mr and Mrs R. Gasson and family, and Miss M. Gasson, who have been on a visit to Makotuku, where they were the guests of Mrs Gasson, senr., have returned to their home in Napier. Messrs G. Haxding and G. Jansen, of the Makotuku railway station staff, have received word of their transfer, on promotion. and will leave at the end of the month. Mr Stan Berkahn, of Makotuku, recently had the misfortuuo to cut his leg while chopping wood. Several stitches had to be put.in the leg. Mrs B. Lorrigan, late of Makotuku, and now residing at Clive, has returned to her home after visiting friends in Southern Hawke's Bay. Mr B. J. Whibley has returned to Wanganui after paying a short visit to friends in Ormondville. The Mayor of Wairoa, Mr H. L. Harker, left on Wednesday for > Wanganui. He is expected to return to "Wairoa on Friday.
