Store Cattle Values at Stortford Lodge - ■ j MANY LINES PASSED The rain which fell durjng the store cattle sale at Stortford Lodge to-day seemed to have a depressing, rather than a heartening effect on the prospective buyers, competition being re-. strained, and only an occasional pen meeting the market. Young heifers and steers were difficult to trade at prices suitable to vendors, competition fortlicoming only for grown lines of steers and bullocks, which made to £11 1/-. The niarket generally lacked interest. Selected entries and prices paid, from which an idea of the state o* the market may he obtained, are as follows : — A Whanakino station entry, a pen of 49 A.A. and A.A.-Hereford yearling heifers, well grown young cattle, in good order, of nice type, passed at the only bid of £3 1G/-. A draft of 32 three-year-old heifers, Herefords, Shortliorns and A.A. bred, all dehorned, fairly grown, store to fresh conditioned, passed at £5. Yearling steers, a draft of some 40 A.A. and A.A.-Hereford crossbred cattle, down from Whanakino, nicely grown young cattle, in good order, passed at £5 7/-. A Pukekura station line of 23 grown bullocks, Hereford bred, well grown cattle, in fat and forward order, all dehorned, met with good competition to sell out at £11 1/-. Fifty three-year-old heifers, all dehorned Herefords, medium grown young cattle, in store to fresh condifcion, 'passed at £4. An attractive line of 43 chiller steers, A.A. and A.A.-Hereford crossbred, quality young cattle, nicely ' grown and in good order, which should finish off well, in from Pukekura station, passed at the vendor's bid- of £7 19/A draft of 59 two-year-old heifers', principally A.A., with a few A.A.-Here-fords included, . down from Springhill and on account of • Mr. Humphrey Ba-yly, fairly grown and store to fresh, passed at £4. . .. Sixteen wellgrown A.A. and A.A.Hereford steers, in from Pukekura station, in good forward order, met the market at £10. ■ . In from . Rissington, 20 two-year-old A.A. steers, medium framed and store to fresh, sold, after a slow spell of bidding, at £5 13/-. ■— . L
