Held for First Time at Waipukurau

WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. Examinations in shorthand, typewriting, book-keeping and handwriting are being conducted in Waipukurau for the first time by the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. The examinations began last night at the Convent School, and will be continued to -night and to- ■ morrow night. Handwriting and shorthand were the subjects for last night. Senior and junior candidates will be examined in typewriting to-night, and book-keeping candidates will sit on Wednesday evening Results will be available about the end of January. The supervisor is Mr E. Stiles. This is the first time that such examinations have been held in Waipukurau by the Chambers of Commerce. It is necessary for the candidates to number at least six before an examination centre can be approved. In tfyo past there has been insuffieient entrants, with the result that they have had to sit in Napier, t>ut this year nine are sitting, all pupils of the St. Joseph's Convent School, Waipukurau.
