WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. With the Christmas shopping ,rush less than a month away, shopkeepers in Waipukurau are already preparing to meet the demand with season a stocks. Trade has been quiet for som days, "a lull before the storm," as or tradesman described it, and this is gi ing the staffs an opportunity to arran,; their displays for Christmas. Christmas erackers and other nov ties for the fefitive season are alread making their appearance in the slu windows, and annuals and Christm: numbers are coming forward in greatc volume than last year. A number o. retailers are already featuring Chrisl mas gifts for sending abroad in tbeii displays, and saies in these lines are rc ported to be quito brisk.
