Hospital Extensions at Waipukurau

WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. Gonsiderable aetivity in the building trade in Waipukurau continues. Another new building contract is likely to be let in the near future. The Waipawa Hospital Board intends instructing its architects to call tenders for the remodelling of one building and the extension of others at the Pukeora Sanatorium. This decision is a result of the.recent visit of Dr. R. A. Shore, Director of the Division of Hospitals, and Mr A, _C. von Keisenberg, secretary to tlie iTepartment of Health, the object of the alterations being to increase the staff accommodation at the sanatorium. A grant of £1750 has been received from the Government for the purpose. There is a keen demand for business sites in the main street, for which high prices are being offered. It is understood that 25 houses are to be erected iu the vicinity of Racecourse road under the Government housing scheme. The new building in course of ereetion for the Central Hhwke's Bay Power Board is progressing satisfaetorily, although it will be some months yet before it is completed.
