AUCKLAND, Last Night. Affcer the reeent ealing iendency, beef was quoted at 1/- lower to 40/- per 1001b for the first timo in 13 weelcs at the Westfield market to-day. A small er entry of stock was aiictioued. Prime ox beef waa in good demand although cows, of which there were m^ny plain aorts, were slow of sale and "were reduced 2/- per 1001b. Extra choice ox beef made 40/- per 1001b, choice and prime 34/- to 39/-, unfinished 27/- to 35/-; prime cow and heifer beef 33/and 38/-, unfinished 24/- to 33/-. Heavy prime steers sold at from £15. to £16 10/-, medium £13 to £14 10/-, light £10 to £12 15/-, unfinished £2 10/to £6 15/-. There was a freer sale of sheep at firmer rates. Wethers were over 1/better and ewes up to 4/- dearer. The yarding was limited and no shorn sheep were ofEered. Heavy wethers brought from 29/- to 31/6, medium 27/- to 29/-, light 25/- to 27/6, unfinished 20/- to 24/9, extra heayy ewes 23/6 to 25/-, heavy 21/9 to 23/-, medium ed 7/6 to 17/6, prime spring lambs 19/- to 21/6, light 17/- to 20/-, unfiniali21/- to 32/6, unfinished 5/- to 20/. Calves were firm at late rates, few but small grades being available. Runners made from £4 to £9, heavy vealers £4 18/- to £5 12/-, medium £4 to to £2 19/-, unfinished 19/- to 38/-, £4 16/-, light £3 to £3 19/-, small £2 rough and bobby calves 7/- to 25/-. A large yarding of pigs sold readily, baconers making over the export schedule rates and prime porkers realising firmer values. Heavy stores "were also in strong dernand. Choppers x;ealised from £2 to £4 9/-, heavy baconers £4 1/- to £4 10/-, medium £3 14/to £4 2/-, light £3 5/- to £3 14/-; heavy -porkers £2 18/- to £3 5/-, medium £2 8/ to £2 16/-, light £2 2/-'to £2 8/-, unfinished £1 10/- to £2 2/-; stores £ 1 15/- to £ 1 19/-; slips £ 1 4/to £1 13/-; weaners 13/- .to 21/-. Baconers averaged 6£d to 6§d per lb and porkers 7d per lb.
