KOTE MAORI GARDEN CIRCLE'S FIRST BIRTHDAY
On Thursday afternoon the gardening circle of the Kote Maori Women's Instltute celebrated its first birthday and at the invitation of Mfs E,.Stewart, Of Raupunga^ enjoyed a picnic lunch at her home. The day was perfect and Mrs Ste'wart's home mado a wonderful setting for a birthday party. .During the afternoon Mrs Bee, the convener, welcomed visitors and presented the year's prizes as follow: Best hloom (prize presented by Mrs Harris), Mrs McArthur; p'oints pripe, (donated by Mrs L. Jones), Mrs Harris; second points prize (donated by Mrs Moran), Mrs Parsons. _ Competitions then followed till after■noon tea, when a sumptuous repast was brought forward. A birthday cake, made by Mts McArthur and iced to represent a miniature garden, was| mudji admired. After afternoon tea Mrs Bee called for three hearty cheers for Mrs Stewart, and thanked her for her hospitality. . Those present were: — Mesdames Bee, Foster, Gavin, Harris, S. Jones, L. Jdnes, Moran, McKay, McArthur, Parsons, Reedy, Stewart, Steggall, Miss Foster and Master W. Steggall.
