Monthly Meeting of Napier Board

An hour and a half sufficed to dispose v of the ordinary business of the Napier Secondary -iducation Board last evening. A light order paper contained many items ^which had to be deferred to the- next meeting for consideration, and the bulk of the time was occupied with officers' and subcommittees5 reports. Mr J. H. Edmundson presided over Miss J. Spcncer, Dr. H. Berry, Messrs Gr. B. Menzies, A. Hobson, J. H. Ab- ( solum, G. H. Gooke, D. B. MeBae, S. V. Ayling, L. C. Friend, W. L. Dunn (secretary), and W. T. Poster (headmaster of the Napier Boys5 . High School). Miss A. M. Anderson, acting-Princi-pal of the Girls' High School reported that the roll was now 218. The average attendance was 204.43, or 93.8 per cent. "The number of jboarders is 27. There are indications already of interest in the hostel for 1938. There have been several applieations for information. The number leaving at the end of the year promises to be small so accommodation for 1938 is likely to be taxed to the utmost." Mr Eoster reported that the average roll for the month was 319, with an average attendance of 229, or 93 per cent. The roll number now stood at. 316. The number of boarders at Scinde House remained at 44. The reports .wdre adopted and a grant of a guinea was made to tho. inusic fund.
