MATERNITY BLOCK
Name-plate for Hastings Hospitai Building When the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board was discussing Hastings matters at the monthly meeting yesterday afternoon, the question of the proposed setting out the conditions under which the mafernity block was presented to the board by an anonymops donor was considered, together -with a draft of the suggested wording submitted by the donor's solicitor, Avhich was as follows: "This block Avas presented to the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board subject to' the following conditions: That the maternity home shall be available to all maternity cases in the district; that reasonable fees, based on those usually eharged by privatfe institutions, shall be paid by all patients except those who cannot afford to pay; that the private wards shall be reservcd for seriou? or complicated cases and for those who are prepared to pay for the special accommodation; that the maternity home shall at all times be under the personal cliarge of a qualificd Plunket nurse." This wording was approved and, on Dr. Wilson's suggestion, an additional paragraph has been added to the effect that faeilities are to be provided for four Karitane babies.
