Maraekakaho Business
The Maraekakaho Women's Institute held lts monthly .meeting in the hall on Thursday, Mrs J. Graham presiding over a good attendance of members. After the usual business had been attended to live little pupils of Mrs T. Walker entertained the members with songs and pianoforte solos and Mrs Walker also played a solo. • Miss-Jerome Spencer gave a most in-f-jresting and instructive talk on International affairs and also told * of some of her experiences in Sweden. The talk was greatly cnjoyed by all. * Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mrs Tankersley and Miss Farmery. The competitlon results were: Best bloom, Mrs W. Lockie; best colleetion of mixed blooms, Mrs Simmons 1, Mrs McLogan 2; best vase, Mrs Ja'ines; pikelets, Mrs Reynolds 1, Mrs M. McLean 2; dress, not to cost more than 7/6, Mrs Farmery 1, Miss M. McKinnon 2, Miss E. Farmery*3. On October 28 the institute, members were entertained at a garden party given by Mrs Howard Glazebrook at the Washpool. A very pleasant afternoon was spent and the garden was much admired by all. The hostess was heartily thanked for her hospitality.
