NO IMMEDIATE RELIEF

Saies Tax on Local Body Supplies Recently the Hastings Borough Council wrote to the Minister of Finance regarding payment of saies tax on supplies nsed by the, council on its public works and last evening the Minister roplied stating that it was not possible to make any reductions at the present time but that consideration was to be given the matter later. The letter advised that. it has not beon found possible, as shown in the Budget recently introduced, to effect reductions in taxations for the curront financial year, but the council 's representations with regard to the remission of saies tax on supplies used by local bodies in conneetion with public works would receive very careful consideration when tho saies tax was again under review.
