Improvement Desired In Russell Street A recommendation that the Kailway Department be approached regarding the replaeement of a fence ru'nning between Heretaunga street and Lyndon road in Russell street, was made by the superintendent of reserves, Mr J. G. G. McKenzie, at the meeting of tho Hastings Borough Council last cvenMr McKenzie pointed out that the present fence, which was 10 chains in length, consisted of railway sleepers as posts and old wirc. He suggested that there slieuld be something nioro ornamental erected in keeping with the general surroimdings in this locality. The council decided to write to tlie Railways Department suggesting that when tlie Railways En^gineer visits Hastings regarding the proposed new station, he be requested to confer with the council on the replaeement of this fence. ^
