PLUNKET SOCIETY
Formation of Sub-branch at Ongaonga ONGAONGA, Last Night. A meeting was held last week in the Ongaonga Hall for the purpose of discussing the formation of a sub-braucli o£ the Plunket . Society. The chair was taken by Mrs J. F. Bell, who introduced Mesdames Furmiriger, Spicer and Strang, Waipawa, who explained in full all details. The motion that Ongaonga form a sub-branch of the Waipawa'Pluxiket Society, when put to the meeting, was carried unanimously. The election of a committee, one or two names being added sxibject to tihe ladies', approval, resulted: — Mesdames JY Russell (secretary, ,pro tem.); Bell, L. Carr, M. Coles, Haldane, A. Middleton, Nicolaidi, and Whitworth. The appointment of a president was held " over -for the prese'nt. The boundary was fixed at the Ruataniwha school corner. All yearly subscriptions for this district (with the exception' of Whakarara, for which ,ti-avelling. expenses ,are paid by the; Waipawa braneh) will be payable to the sub-branch ihere. As Ongaonga is now responsbile for ,£18 annually, it is hoped that all those interested in the splendid work done by »the society will become members, paying an annual fee of 5/-. . To allow the braneh to get into proper working order, it was: decided tbat it slxould not operate officially until Aprxl L' (when yearly subscriptions become due). It is hoped. that residente of the district will support this under•taking and members of the committee will always be grateful to aceept axjy help whatsoever.
