RECORD POLLING
Australian Elections SENATE ' PROGRESS RETURNS (Received 6, 8.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 5. According to the Ghief Commonwealth Electoral Officer, the polling at the Federal elections was the highest on record. Present figures indicate that 96 per cent. of the 4,084,000 electors voted. The completion of the distribution of preferences in Tasmania has resulfed in the return of two remaining Labour camdidates, Messrs R. Darcy and C. Lamp. Two of the three Labour candidatei, Messrs J. Barnes and D. Cameron, hav® been eleeted to fill Yictorian vacancier in the Senate. It is expected that th« third Labour candidate, Mr R. Keane^ will be eleeted after the further allocation of preferences to-day.
