TIMARU, This Day. At the Chamber of Commerce conference to-day the following reftiit wM carried: — "The fight of an aggrieved party to appeal to the Supreme Gouri being an important constitutnonal rightwbich should not be ligbtly taken away or even seriously jnfringed? especially where a person' s estate or liberty is at stake, this conferehce protests strongly against denial of his right in legislative enactments, such gs the lndustrial Efficiency Act, Prevention of Profiteering Act, and Transport Licensing Act. Tlie conference presses for reinstat*ment of riglit of appeal in these and any other simil&r statutes, and for iU allowances in any further enactments." The following -Wellington remits wero carried: — '/(a) That all publio holiday* should be (1) national, (2) defined. by statute only, not by awards, and (3) observed on Moudays wlienever possible, thus best serving the best.interest* ol: the eniployer aud the einployee alike ; and (b) that the Bankiug Act should be liumediately amended so as to rqmove Baints days . from compulsory holiday* provided by the Act." "That broadcasting over the air should be impartial and free froin political coutrol, subject only to ordinary ^yress limitations and responsibilitie* and to equal rights of others; tha| radjo matters generally should be controlld by a boafd consisting of a direotor and manager of broadcast, with the addition of a member representing receiving licence-holders."
