Two Accused Sent to Gaol

CHRISTCHURCH, 'This Day. "For seven years you have both conalstently and deliberately brolien the law, and you appear determined to live itn anti-social lifef" said Mr Justice NortHcroft this morning when imposiug a sentence of six months ' imprisonment upon Bruce Clive Ward, aged 31, labourer, and Leslie Albert Saies, aged 25, labourer, who appeared for sentence on three charges of converting motOrcars to their own use, and oue of converting a inotor-cycle. "The temptation was supplied by people who left their keys in their cars," said counsel. "Why should people not leave their carsf" inquired His Honour. ' ' That contention presumes a dishonest public, and the public is not -dishonest. The only temptation is that to dishonest people." Each prfsonOr was sentenced to six 'months' gaol on each charge, the sentences to be concurrsnt.
