NAPIER MUSIC STUDENTS ENTERTAIN
Last evening the Napier Musicians' Society met in Blythe's* Tea Rooms, the lounge of which was beautifully decorqted with lovely spring flowers. Blue and pink lupins arranged in a tall vase were set on a table beside a bowl of deep pink ranunculi, and placed against the dark woodwork were large bowls of mixed antirrhinums and Iceland poppies showing to perfection in the glow of the shaded lights. Students provided the items for the evening s programme, receiving much applause from the large audience. Mr TombSj the president of the society, said tliat he was very pleased to see such a large attendance and knew that members had not come to criticise, but to be generous and stimu- , iate the performers to greater eiforts. Owing to the length of the programme no encores .were allowed and eaeh performer took his or her place on the stage, just as soon as tho previous number was concluded. The following was the programme presented : — ' Piano solo, Ray McLean; piano solo, Joy Clothier; song, Nancy Gilroy; piano solo, Heather Cornish ; piano solo, Joyce Baird; violin solo, Julius Hanson ; piano solo. June Gray ; viohn solo, Robin Englanu; piano soio, Beverley Horsnell; piano solo, Joyce Eyre; song, Margaret Probert; piano solo, VVilfred Nuttall; violin soli, Merle Thompson ; piano solo, Ray Sherning; vocal trios, lt. Morland, M. Bridle, and N. Morland; piano solo, Joan Dawe; song, D. Lambjcpiano solo, Jyce Morgan ; 'cello soli, Vj. McCarthy ; piano solo, Margaret Claugbton ; piano solo, Doris Horsnell. Misses Francis Fox, Winifred McCarthy, Dorothy Buckingham and Enid Aislabie accompanied several of ihe performers. At the conclusion of the programme Mr Tombs congratulated the students on the most enjoyable programme given. All present enjoyed a pleasant ctat while supper was being served and the singing of the National Antbem brought a very pleasant evening to a close. Among those present were: Mr and Mrs P. W.
