SUCCESSFUL BRIDGE PARTY IN AID OF FAR EAST RELIEF FUND

The members of the Hastings Women 's Community Club ®,re always to the fore in giving assistance to any worthy eause and the Far East Relief Fund, organised by the Eed Cross Society, yesterday received their help, when a large and very suecessf ul bridge party was arranged by elub members and to which canio also many of their friends and quite a uumber of Napier visitors. The bridge-room and the lounge at the elub w^ire arranged for eards and mah jong and the floral decorations were most beautifully arranged. Huge bowls of lovely roses were admired by everyone and other bowls of iceland poppies and eopper beeeh leaves gave a bright touch of colour, while the bowls of pilrple and mauve irises looked very pr'etty. During the afternoon tea was served by the Pasadena tea-rooms and this was very much enjoyed by everyone. The club president, Mrs T. H. Lowry, thanked Mrs A, Giorgi and the members of the bridge circle for arranging the party and also all those who had helped the funds by their attendance. She said that she hoped all the members would attend her garden party on November 24 as it was hoped that the funds raised would finish paying off the new club furniture expenses and thus give club members a better ehance to give their assistance to other worthy causes. As all present were the guests of Mrs Lowry at afternoon tea quite a goodsum was raised for the funds. » Mrs Lowry also presented the t.wo prizes which were won by Mrs Duff (auction) and Mrs Dyer (contract). Donations were received from several members who could not be present. These were Mrs E. Lyons, Mrs H. M. Bishop, Mrs E. J. Herriek, Mrs J. S. McLeod and Miss Audrey McLeod^ Mrs Hedley Harvey, Mrs S.
