LITERARY MEMBERS OF TOWNSWOMEN'S GUILD MEET

The Octoher meeting of the Litcrary and Dramatic See—on of the Townswmen's Guild was held in the Nurses' club room on Friday. There was a large attendance of members, , Mrs. O'Halloran, section leader, presided. The programme for the afternoon was devoted to the life and works of Charles Dickens and was in the hands of Mesdames Sweetapple and Spackman. Mrs. Barnett read an excellent paper on the early life of Dickens, and extracts from his books, both gave and gay were read by the following members: Miss Fannin, Mesdames Bayley, O'Halloran, Boyd' and Madigan. A play "Dickens of Grays Inn" was cleverly read by the following ladies: Mesdames Maney, Martin, Wood and Sweetapple. A story made from titles of Dickens' books proved a good competition and the ladies in charge of - the pro-. gramme were thanked for their very fine effort.
