WAIPUKURAU MOTHERS' UNION

The monthly meeting of the Waipukurau branch of the Mothers' Union was held- on Thursday afternoon. The service in St. Mary's Church was con- , ducted by the Eev. Canon E.'D. Eice. Miss B. Hartnell, organising secretary of the British and Foreign Biblc Society^ who - is visiting Waipukurau, gave a short address on the activitics of the society, giving statistics of tba progress mado and reading extraetw from letters from missionaries in foreign la'nds, telling of the i'ar-reacb-ing effect of the Bible. After the service an adjournmeut wa a made to the old church, when a combined meeting of the Mothers' Union au-d St. Mary's Guild menibeis was held, qvcr Avliich Mrs Eice presided. It Avas decided that tho annua] gii't afternoon for St. Mary's Home, Napier, should be held in the vicarage grounds on Noveniber 17. Competitious wera arranged and prizes donated by Mesdames Eowan, W. G. Bryce. V. Bradlev, I. W. N. Mackie, J. Ilill, W. II. L. Williams and Miss Peaeock. A letter was received from Mrs Keith Donald, who is visiting Scotland. accompanied by a box of heather gatliered on tho hills in Scotland, all present roceiving' a spray.
