Mr Hargest asked the Minister if he would take whatever steps were necessary to prevent recurrence of an action that might resulfc in the loss of a valuable ship. Mr W. J. Polson (Nat-, Stratford), asked the Prime Minister an urgent question— if he was aware of the conditions under which New Zealand produce was being loa,ded on the waterr front to-day, which, he said,, weie worse than those a year ago owfng to stoppages of work and dilatoriness. Ho asks ed if the Prime Minister wotild take steps to intitate a drastic inquiry into the matter. Mr Savage, in repl,y said he was not aware that the conditions referred to by Mr Polson were worse than a year ago, and he was not prepared to accept Mr Polson 's assertions to that effect. He was aware of what was going on on the waterfront, and intimated that the Government was making an investigation into the whole position.
