COMING-OF-AGE PARTY IN HASTINGS
To celebrate the coming of age of their son Bonald, Mr. and Mrs. N. Tate, of Waipukurau, entertained a number of friends at a jolly party on Saturday evening. The party was held at the residence of Mr. Boland Tate's grandmother, Mrs. J. Tate, "Jesmond 'House^" Hastings, where the diningroom was festive for the occasion with multi-coloured streamers and balloons. Preparations had been made by relatives to make the evening a happy one for the guest of honour and his friends, and a most pleasur'able evening was spent with games, competitions and dancing. On the tastefully decorated supper table the handsome birlhday cake with its 21 candles held pride of place, the cake being cufc-by the guest of honour. During supper several todsts were honoured, that of the guest of honour being proposed by Mr. N. Tate, who presented his son with the traditional gold key, which was later autographed by all present. Mr. Ronald Tate suitably responded. The guest of honour was the recipient of many beautiful gifts as well as heartiest congratulations on attaining his majority. Mrs. N. Tate, who received tlie guests, wore a blue floral georgett-e frock, with a shoulder spray and sllver shoes. She was assisted by Mrs. J. Tate (grandmother), who was gowned iu navy flor-al marocain, trimmed with white. Mrs. A. Grey (grandmother), gowned in brown floral marocain. Among the invited guests were Mr. and Mrs. S. Mudgeway, Mrs. Carmichael, Misses D. and M. Tate, D. Sulton, E. Kearnei, J. Marmichael, D. ' MUdgway, Messrs. J . McClymont, B. Gloyn, D. Goodall, B. Buckhouse, G. Wellman.
