MEMBERS OF WELL-KNOWN H.B. FAMILIES MARRIED AT NAPIER YESTERDAY
HARDY — GLEESON t A mariiage of interest. to many friends in Hawke's Bay took place in Napier yesterday afternoon at "Nenagh," the honie of the bride's parents, when Norah Margaret, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Gleeson, of Napier, was rnarried to Lionel Eric Hardy, of Elsthorpe, second son of Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Har&y, of Hastings. The Kev. Father J. Kingan, Silver'stream, performed the ceremony in the drawing-room, one end of which. was banked with ni'asses of lilac and rosebuds arranged in bowls placed on tall stands at either side of the room. This background of flowers^ formed a .picturesque setting for the bridal party. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a Vietorian gown of deep eream chiffon. The simply-cut bodice' had a rounded neckline finished with tiny taffeta motifs, and the short sleeves were composed of two flounces of chiffon edged wtih narrow bands of cream taffeta. The circular * skirt, which fell on soft folds to form a short train, was composed of three flounces edged with narrow taffeta bands. Her beautiful veil of Brussels lace, which fell over her -frock' to form a second train, was simply caught to her head with a halo of lily of the vaftey, and she carried a bouquet of lily of the valley. •* Three bridesmaids, Miss Kathleen Gilbert, Auckland, Miss Patricia Baker and Miss Suzanne Hughes, Wellington, wore period froeks of peach-pink rnoire taffeta. The tight-fitting bodices had full puff sleeves flnished with narrow bands of gauzing. Thq skirts, ' which were long and very full, were gauged at the waist-line. In their hair they wore halo-wreaths of pink and lavender myosotis and carried sheaves of lilac. Mr. Dalton Hardy attended his brother as best man, and Messrs. Patrick Gleeson, brother of the bride, and Trevor Hardy, bridegroom's brother, were groomsmen. Following the ceremony, at which only members of both families were present, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Gleeson .entertained a large number of guests at a reception at tho Masonic Hotel. The lounge was decorated with bowls of lilac and roses and the bride's table, with its tall cream wedding cako, was decked with stnall flowers in pinlc and lavender shades. The toast of the bride and bridegroom was honoured, and the reception which followed was a happy one. Mrs. Gleeson received her guests wearing a model gown of black chiffon and lace fashioned* on classical lines. Her picture hat of black crinolin was banded with ice-blue velvet and flnished in front with a large pink rose. Her bouquet was of pink roses. Mrs. Hardy Wore a becoming gown of beige lace, appliqued with brown, the sleeves being finished with brown appliqqued mofits. Her brown hat was trimmed with biege and brown velvet, and she carried a bouquet in autumn tones. Miss Hardy, sister of the bridegroom, wore a model ensemble of navy suede silk with white braid trimmings and a matching navy hat. When Mr. and Mrs. Eric Hardy left later for the north, the lafter was wearing a smart suit- of lido-bluo feather cloth with. a small matching hat and accessories.
