Risc in Grading and Another Teacher Next Year

OasvjAOxsGA, JLiRSt JNigUt. At the monthly meeting of tho Ongaonga Bchool Committee there were present Messrs McNicol (chairman), J. Ooles and M. Coles (seeretary) and the headmastear, Mr J. F. BelJ. The headmaster reported a roll of 86. Attendance was excellent, he said. The average of the roll numbfers for the first four wecks of this- term had resulted in such a roll average, 87, that the school would be graded as lllc. for 1938. That meant that the spare room would n'eed refurnishing and that another assistant would be appointed' for 1938. The roll number in the junior room Was 48 pupils, making teaching from primer classes to Standard 2 difficult. An additional assistant was urgently needed. It was decided to apply immediately for an additional assifetant, and for the complete refurnishing Of the extra foom in readiness for the new year. The secretary was instructed to inquire about the gr&nt for whicli the Education Board had applied to the Education Departmeht for the building of #a fnel and storage fited. fcubstantial cyclono fences have been erected at the end of the lawn, around the experimental plot, and for oue chain ia the horfco paddock. After a long discussion on tho advisability of prize-giving it was ilnally decided that the chairman should call & general householders' meeting so that all aspeGts of the question might be fuliy discussed.
