Borongh Council to Prow»t After considering the report of the traffic inspector on the legislation proposed by the Goyernment regarding the t&king over of the liceusing of tftxis and town carriers, the Hastings Borough Council decided last evening to protest to the Minister of Transport and the Municipal Assoeiation executive against the proposed legislation. "The effect of the legislation will mean that the loeai anthoritiea will lose the whole of the revenue derived from the licensing of taxis and town cafriers, amounting to approximately £80 a year?'» stated Inspector M&nn in his report "No provision hag been mkde for any proportion of the fees to be refunded for the use of the stands prOvided, o? for the enforcemept of the Act, a wbfh that Wijl no donbt be very difficnlt owing fo the j-ecprds of the licenses issued not being available for imtnediate inspection when required. Carriers using horse-drawn veliielea afe not included, and will remain as at present."
