WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. The quarterly meeting of the Wai- ■ pukurau Fire Brigade was held in the Waipukurau Borough Council Ohambdi-s, the chairman, Mr W. G. Bryce, pfesiding over Messrs I. W. Maekie, W. E. Watson, J. A. Chambers (superihtendent) and H. B. Smart (secfetary). AdvicC Was received that four sinoke helmets ofdered by the board had been delivered. These cost 27/6 dach. It was pointed out that they were not a piOtection against poisbnous gases. The repoft of the superiutendent stated that since' the last meeting df the board the brigade had received one call to a fire, which had. been extinguished without much structural damage being done. The fire was etwsed by the overheating of some overhead woodwork, causing it to fall and ignite ! the floor, resulting in the loss of two transformers. The 300 feet of fire liose ox'dered on indent had come to hand Und would be tested at the first oppoftunlty. Payment of accounts amouttting to . £80 1/5 was approved.
